Two separate workshops will be held on Friday, July 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the top 50 article/essay submissions and the top 20 manuscript submissions. Writers will be eligible to win cash prizes in two categories - personal essay and research-and-reporting based narratives. The best narratives will be published in Ten Spurs, a literary nonfiction journal published by the Mayborn Graduate School of Journalism, as well as reviewed by The Dallas Morning News for possible publication. The winner of the manuscript competition earns a cash prize, and an option to sign a provisional book contract with UNT Press. The book manuscript winner and the writers selected for publication in Ten Spurs will participate in book signings at the 2010 Mayborn Conference.
